Interview - Aleksander Ljutic

Born (place and date) 

I was born in Denmark (Lemvig) in 2001 on the 8th of January.

- Why do you love SUP?

I have always loved the water and all watersports, SUP gave me the opportunity to be on the water every day. I can do it whatever the conditions are and wherever I am in the world, I can do it on flatwater, waves, downwind, rivers etc. As long as I have my board and my paddle.

- How did you start Stand up paddling?

I tried Surfing for the first time when I was nine and I loved it, a year later I went to Copenhagen to see a competition with Casper Steinfath, Casper learned me to surf, he is a good friend and has helped me a lot throughout the year.

I tried SUP for the first time at the event and I was hooked, since then SUP has given me the opportunity to travel the world and compete in amazing places.

- Your heroes?

There are so many people that have inspired me throughout the years.

Casper has been a big hero for me growing up and it's pretty cool to start getting closer and closer to him in races now;)

Some of my other heroes include:

Michael Phelps, Bear Grylls, Caeleb Dressel, Eliud Kipchoge, Dean Karnazes, Kelly Slater.

- Best drink after a SUP training Session…

Coconut water or a plant-based protein shake.

- Favorite paddling spot:

I am lucky to have the opportunity to SUP all over the world, every place is special in its own way.

This year I went to Greece and Sardinia, both places were amazing.

the water is really beautiful and clear, there is really good downwind conditions and the landscape with cliffs and beautiful cities were amazing as well.

But for me, there's also something beautiful about being out in the middle of the winter at home while it's snowing.

My overall favorite piece of clothing would definitely be the Stand-Out Air long john.
